Pope Francis' Dialogue Kills In Japan! Hiroshima Landslide Kills Hundreds Of Souls - One Year Ago To The Day Pope Francis Met With Students From Japan And Underscored The Value Of Dialogue As A Proponent Of Peace!

“At the first blow of His thundering sword, the mountains and all Nature will tremble in terror, for the disorders and crimes of men have pierced the vault of the heavens. Paris will burn and Marseilles will be engulfed. Several cities will be shaken down and swallowed up by earthquakes. People will believe that all is lost. The Holy Father

Good morning!

It is quite clear that you understand Italian!...

I welcome you! Your visit gives me pleasure. I hope that this journey will be very fruitful for you because becoming acquainted with other people and other cultures always is always good for us, it makes us grow.

And why does this happen? It is because if we isolate ourselves we have only what we have, we cannot develop culturally; but, if we seek out other people, other cultures, other ways of thinking, other religions, we go out of ourselves and start that most beautiful adventure which is called “dialogue”.

Dialogue is very important for our own maturity, because in confronting another person, confronting other cultures, and also confronting other religions in the right way, we grow; we develop and mature.

There is of course a danger. If during dialogue someone closes himself in and grows angry he may start a fight; there is the danger of conflict and this is not good, because we talk to each other to find ourselves and not in order to quarrel.

And what is the deepest approach we should have in order to dialogue and not quarrel? Meekness, the ability to encounter people, to encounter cultures peacefully; the ability to ask intelligent questions: “But why do you think like this? Why does this culture do this?”. Listening to others and then speaking. First listening, then speaking. All this is meekness. And if you do not think in the same way as I do — but you know... I think in a different way than you, and you do not convince me — and yet we are friends, I have understood how you think and you have understood how I think.

And do you know something, something important? This dialogue is what creates peace. It is impossible for peace to exist without dialogue. All the wars, all the strife, all the unsolved problems over which we clash are due to a lack of dialogue. When there is a problem, talk: this makes peace. This is what I hope for you in this journey of dialogue: that you come to know how to dialogue; how does this culture think? How lovely that is! I don’t like this — but in dialogue. This is how we develop. This is my wish for you and I also wish you a good visit in Rome.

I wish you the very best, for yourselves, for your school and for your families. God bless you all! Thank you.

A girl

We are happy to have had the chance to meet you and to listen to your words: we shall now put what we heard you say into practice in our lives. We would also like to thank you for having granted us a little of your valuable time.

TOKYO (AP) — Japanese police said the death toll from rain-triggered landslides on the outskirts of Hiroshima city rose to 39 on Thursday with 51 people still missing, as search efforts continued in the devastated area. Hillsides caved in or were swept down into residential areas in at least five valleys in the suburbs of the western Japanese city on Wednesday, crushing dozens of houses after heavy rains. Hiroshima prefectural police said 39 people were confirmed dead and 51 others were missing as of midday Thursday. The Fire and Disaster Management Agency said 23 people were injured, 13 seriously. A police official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with official policy, said there was a possibility of some inaccuracies in the tally. About 2,500 police and military personnel searched for the missing in the mud-covered areas. Hiroshima city officials have faced criticism because their initial evacuation advisory came an hour after the first mudslide. Officials said their response was delayed because the land collapsed so quickly at multiple locations. Landslides are a constant risk in mountainous, crowded Japan, where many homes are built on or near steep slopes. Torrential rains early Wednesday apparently caused slopes to collapse in areas where many of the buildings were newly constructed. Hiroshima's geology, consisting of highly water-retentive soil, makes the city particularly prone to such disasters, experts say.

“In the year 1864, Lucifer together with a large number of demons will be unloosed from hell; they will put an end to faith little by little, even in those dedicated to God. They will blind them in such a way, that, unless they are blessed with a special grace, these people will take on the spirit of these angels of hell; several religious institutions will lose all faith and will lose many souls. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Torrential downpours are forecast later in County Durham and John Hensby, 71, said he had been warned the 110ft (35m) wide hole would grow. It opened up about 260ft (80m) from Mr Henby's house in Cowshill near Bishop Auckland, above an old lead mine. Durham County Council has closed a nearby footpath. Mr Henby said he was worried about sheep falling in. The retired salesman lives in a stone two-storey house built in the 1870s and owns 10 acres of former mining land. His partner Sam Hillyard, 39, spotted the sink-hole on Thursday while she was out shooting rabbits. Mr Hensby, who has lived in the former mine manager's house for six years, said: "We heard enormous rumblings hours before it opened up and then it appeared. "I'm not worried about my house as it is on stable land - not actually on a mine. BBC Read More>>>

An explosion in a Chinese coal mine has killed two workers and trapped 25 others underground, according to state media. The blast at the privately-owned mine in Huainan city resulted in part of a tunnel collapsing, trapping workers. Twelve others were rescued. The cause of the blast is being investigated. State-run news agency Xinhua said that the Dongfang Coal Mine had ignored a local government order to suspend production due to the flood season. China Central Television said that most of the miners trapped underground were in their 40s. BBC Read More>>>>>

A huge fissure has split open the earth in a rural Mexican town, stunning locals and scientists, who are still seeking to explain its origin. The crack appeared last week and crosses Highway 26 between Hermosillo, in the northwest of Mexico, and the Gulf of California. The fissure is the length of three quarters of a mile, about 26 feet deep and 16 feet wide. Geologists are still investigating what could have caused the phenomenon. The scientists said the crack may have been caused by an earthquake that struck the region the Sunday before. Civil engineer Rafael Rodriguez, of Sonora University, said the incident may have been caused by a levee constructed by local farmers to contain rain water. 'This definitely is not cause for alarm for the local population,' Martin Moreno, another geologist, told El Manana newspaper. Moreno said the underground stream could have undermined the earth above it and cause it to collapsed. Local residents have been forced to go around the fissure until officials figure out a way to fix it. Daily Mail Read More>>>>>>>

A deluge of storms has soaked the eastern United States - dumping two months of of rainfall on Long Island, New York in just two hours this morning. Flash floods caused hundreds of motorists in New York to abandon their cars of their morning commutes this morning. The story was similar in Baltimore, Maryland, for commuters on Tuesday night. In Detroit, at least two people have died - including a 100-year-old woman - in flooding caused by the heaviest rainfall in more than 80 years. Torrential rain also battered parts of the western U.S. - forcing daring r escues in Phoenix, Arizona, and causing floods so powerful the water broke down the doors of a hospital in Nebraska. The storm that passed over New York today ended mid-morning - but not before it dumped a total of 13.1 inches at Long Island's MacArthur Airport in Islip, said Christopher Vaccaro, spokesman for the National Weather Service. With dust billowing into the sky, this is the moment a hillside crumbled to the ground at a busy construction site in Ecuador killing two workers and injuring eight more. The hillside collapsed after an earthquake triggered a landslide at a quarry site in Ecuador, seven miles north of the capital of Quito. It killed two employees of a Chinese contractor that works for the city. Eight more were injured. A further three people are still missing from the quarry after the landslide in the Catequilla area of the country, near the Equator. One victim, who has yet to be identified, died in a health facility in Catequilla. Another, a four-year-old boy, died in a different area of the capital. He was killed when sacks of rice fell on top of him, according to the mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas. Mr Rodas, mayor the city, said: 'We have four victims to lament.' Eight other people were also injured because of the shallow earthquake that set off at least 44 medium-intensity aftershocks since it struck on Tuesday. The US Geological Survey said the quake was centred 14 miles northeast of Quito at a depth of 4.8 miles. At least 44 medium-intensity aftershocks have been registered since the quake struck. Located along the so-called 'Ring of Fire', a horseshoe-shaped, seismically turbulent area of the Pacific Ocean, Ecuador is prone to earthquakes. Daily Mail Read More>>>>>

August 2014 (Tuoitrenews.vn)Six people, including five from a family, were killed during a flash flood that swept through Tam Duong District of the northern Vietnamese province of Lai Chau on Tuesday, local authorities said. The flash flood followed downpours that hit the district early the same day, said Vu Van Luat, chief of the secretariat of the provincial Steering Board for Storm and Flood Prevention and Control. Among the victims were Tan La U, a member of the Dao ethnic minority, his wife and their three children who lived in the district’s Tam Duong Town, Luat said. They were swept away by floodwater early in the morning and their bodies were all found in the evening, he added. Meanwhile, a serious landside caused by the flashflood occurred in the district’s Son Binh Commune, yesterday afternoon, killing a five-month-old baby girl and injuring both her parents, who were hospitalized for treatment, the official said. The district authorities have visited and given support to the families of the victims. According to the Central Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Center, northern provinces including Lai Chau will continue to experience medium and heavy rains, possible together with thunderstorms, until Thursday, August 14. Rainfall in the mountainous areas will reach 150mm and flash floods as well as landslides may continue to happen, the center warned.

JAKARTA, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and over 600 others took shelters as floods hit South Kalimantan province of Indonesia, official of disaster agency said here on Monday. A river bloated by consecutive days of heavy downpours had overflowed its bank and flooded several villages in Satul sub- district of Tanah Bambu district since Saturday, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of national disaster agency disclosed. "Two people were killed as they were swept away by the current and 618 others are taking shelters in schools buildings and other buildings," he told Xinhua over phone. Over 2,600 houses were submerged and 7,617 people were affected by the disaster, said Sutopo. The villages remained inundated on Monday, other official of the agency told Xinhua by phone. Rescue operation for those being trapped on their houses are underway, he said. Seasonal downpours often cause floods in Indonesia, a chain of 17,500 islands where over millions of people live in vulnerable plains that are near to rivers.

August 2014 (Business Standard) Rain continued in isolated areas of north India, including in Rajasthan, where Army had to be called in for flood rescue, and in Uttarakhand where five persons were killed in rain-related incidents, even as Delhi and some other parts experienced hot and humid weather today. Extremely sultry and hot weather prevailed in the capital a day after rains lashed most parts of the city. According to the MeT department, humidity levels oscillated between 57 and 92 per cent during the day, causing discomfort to the people. Today's maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while the minimum settled at 25 degrees, a notch below normal. In Rajasthan, Army has been deployed in rescue and relief work in Kotkhawda area where roads and houses were inundated following heavy rainfall in the past couple of days. According to officials, situation in Kotkhawda near Jaipur was improving since rain stopped last night. However, light to moderate rainfall continued in several other parts of the state. Chittorgarh recorded maximum of 41mm rainfall, followed by Dabok 11.4-mm. Ajmer, Kota and Jodhpur also received rain today among other places of the state, MeT officials said. Heavy rainfall for the past couple of days in Rajasthan's Kota district has caused breach in Abhayapura dam, flooding nearby villages. The district administration has sounded alert in the affected villages and people in about 20 villages near the dam have been asked evacuate their homes.

August 2014 (Press TV) At least 10 people have been killed and dozens of others injured as a powerful typhoon slammed into western and northern Japan. Typhoon Halong hurtled across the Japanese archipelago over the weekend, with heavy rain still lashing the country's north. The public broadcaster, NHK, reported that a total of 96 people have suffered injuries as a result of the heavy storm. Among the victims, the body of an Iranian man was found in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of the capital Tokyo, while two Japanese women died in the country's west. The coastguard on Monday resumed searching for a man, who went missing apparently while surfing during the storm, off Wakayama in western Japan. "Police and the coastguard dispatched one rescue boat and two helicopters but we have not found any sign of him," an unnamed police official said. More than 700 flights were called off during the weekend due to the typhoon. Violent winds also destroyed more than 460 buildings in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, on Sunday, injuring at least two people.

August 2014 (BBC) At least one person has reportedly been killed as floods hit Serbia and Bosnia, three months after heavy flooding killed almost 80 people in the region. The latest floods, caused by heavy rains, have damaged roads, bridges and hundreds of homes in western Serbia and in central and northern Bosnia. Floods in the same area in May affected nearly two million people and caused billions of euros of damage. Many of the victims criticised the official response at the time. Local media in Serbia say a man, aged 65, drowned after floodwaters swept through his home in Banja Koviljaca, in the west of the country. Many homes were also flooded in the nearby town of Loznica, after the river Stira burst its banks.

August 2014 (Indian Express) Flood waters engulfed vast areas of the delta region of Mahanadi river system in Odisha even as the death toll due to heavy rains and floods in the state climbed to 34. As many as 9.95 lakh people in 1,553 villages of 89 blocks in 23 districts have so far been affected due to the floods, the Special Relief Commissioner said. “Though river Mahanadi is flowing above danger mark at several places, there is no threat of substantial damage as the water flow into Hirakud reservoir has come down,” Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P K Mohapatra said. The death toll due to floods and heavy rain in different parts of the state went up to 34 with seven fresh deaths reported since Wednesday, the SRC said, adding, most of the casualties were due to drowning and wall collapse. “It is a matter of relief that fear of a major high flood has been averted. Volume of water flowing down Mahanadi at Munduli stood at around 11 lakh cusec as against over 12 lakh cusec anticipated earlier,” he said. The level in Hirakud reservoir stood at 628.08 ft as against its full capacity of 630 ft and 50 of the 64 sluice gates were opened for discharge of excess water, said Biswajit Mohanty, Chief Engineer of Hirakud dam.

Paris will burn and Marseilles will be engulfed. Several cities will be shaken down and swallowed up by earthquakes. People will believe that all is lost. Nothing will be seen but murder, nothing will be heard but the clash of arms and blasphemy. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Sunkoshi Landslide Over 150 Souls Perish! Thousands Of Families Left Without Shelter!

NEW DELHI August 2014 (WSJ) —Rescue operations in Nepal were hampered Sunday by rainfall and a fresh landslide after a major landslide Saturday swept down a valley northeast of the capital city, Katmandu, killing at least eight people and forcing thousands to evacuate, senior Nepalese government officials said. "It's very difficult to carry on our search operation," said Yadav Prasad Koirala of Nepal's home ministry in an interview Sunday. He said a more accurate count of the missing and injured could begin only after the second, smaller landslide came to a stop. The Saturday-morning slide blocked Nepal's Sunkoshi River for at least part of the day, creating a vast lake, as one official described it, and raising fears of destruction downstream if the blockage were to break. However by late Saturday the Nepalese army had blasted away chunks of the blockage, reducing the risk. "River flow continues to be normal," Mr. Koirala said, "Though our teams are on high alert." The official said eight bodies had been recovered so far, and some 8,000 people evacuated from villages in the area and downstream. The Associated Press reported Sunday that Nepalese officials were expressing skepticism that survivors would be found. The disaster struck Nepal just a day before the arrival of Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, to discuss cross-border relations. Mr. Modi landed on Sunday, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister in 17 years.

Among the shared interests between India and Nepal is the stewardship of waterways. Saturday's landslide in Nepal raised fears of flooding downstream in the Indian state of Bihar. An Indian government official said Bihar had been put on alert to the possibility of flooding there and as many as 44,000 people have so far been evacuated from the areas that could be affected in case of floods. Mr. Koirala said a team of five officials from India reached Nepal on Saturday evening to advise efforts to minimize the possibility of flooding from the river. Landslides are common in Nepal, particularly during the rainy season, given the country's mountainous terrain and steep Himalayan valleys. It is monsoon season across South Asia. Saturday's slide struck in Sindhupalchok district, officials said, in an area about 100 miles northeast of Katmandu, near the villages of Ramche and Mankha. After the landslide blocked the Sunkoshi, a police official said, the water began rising to a threatening level. Nepal's Araniko Highway runs through the stricken area, an important route that connects Nepal to China by road at the Friendship Bridge. It's the second significant landslide in South Asia in recent days. A slide earlier in the week in the Indian state of Maharashtra has left at least 87 people dead so far, though officials say the toll there could climb to more than 100.
