Lightning Strike Kills Seven Family Members In Mexico



A lightning strike killed at least seven people, including four children, and injured others in a rural part of central Mexico, according to authorities. The Guanajuato state Department of Public Safety reported that two more people - a child and a 26-year-old woman - were hurt by the Friday afternoon strike, though their lives were not in danger. The incident took place in farming country near the towns of Mesa Cuata and El Terrero, about a 25-mile drive from the city of Queretaro. The dead children were aged three, five, nine and 14 and the other victims were three women aged 19, 32 and 44. The injured and killed group members were struck while they were working in a field, a Guanajuato civil protection official told AFP.
