The birth defects linked to the Zika virus are 'more severe' than first thought, leading experts warned today.
Doctors say they are struck by the severity of a small number of cases of microcephaly in Brazil.
Consultations between experts in the country and colleagues in the US have increased in the last two weeks.
And some of the leading authorities on the condition have warned of patterns of unusual devastation in scans of the newborns' malformed brains.
