Queensland Cyclone Debbie

QUEENSLANDERS were warned to expect the worst as Cyclone Debbie last night continued its long, slow torture of the state. More than 24 hours after the ferocity of the Category 4 system began to pound the Whitsundays and coastal communities, authorities last night still remained largely in the dark about the toll left in its wake. There could be an unknown number of deaths or injuries, including a Proserpine man feared dead by his wife. The system, downgraded to Category 2, headed inland and smashed the mining town of Collinsville last night, ripping the roofs off houses, the Top Pub and a local supermarket. Source
