Salmon Landings In Hokkaido In 2016 Are The Lowest In Three Decades

The number of salmon caught in Hokkaido in 2016 plunged 29.4% from the previous year to 23.4 million fish, according to the survey by the Hokkaido District Fisheries Coordination Committee. The figure represented the lowest level in 28 years. The lackluster performance has been blamed on the poor migration of four-year-old fish as well as the impact of the typhoons last summer. Source
