TRUCKEE (CBS13) — More than a dozen earthquakes rattled the Sierra Tuesday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey reports at least 16 earthquakes hit the Truckee area since about 2 a.m. The strongest quake was a magnitude-3.9. Could the earthquakes be linked to all the rain and snow we got last winter? A group of UC Berkeley seismologists says yes. Source

YELLOWSTONE SUPERVOLCANO EARTHQUAKE SWARM REACHES 878 EVENTS IN JUST TWO WEEKS

Updated | Over 800 earthquakes have now been recorded at Yellowstone supervolcano over the last two weeks, with the ongoing swarm taking place on the western edge of the National Park. But there is virtually no risk of the volcano erupting, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) currently lists the volcano alert level as normal and the aviation color, which lists the potential risk to fights, is at green. The current earthquake swarm began on June 12. A week later, the USGS put out a statement to say that 464 earthquakes had been recorded, with the largest being magnitude 4.4 “This is the highest number of earthquakes at Yellowstone within a single week in the past five years,” it said. MUSLIMS Shoot Kangaroo Three Times Tie It To A Chair Dressed In A Leopard Print Jacket Holding A Bottle Of OUZO

MUSLIMS declare war on Mernda.

Three years ago Muslims were denied a building permit to build a Mosque.

Muslims are still in the area and are trying to intimidate the natives....

A kangaroo has been found shot dead and tied to a chair in an 'appalling and immoral' act of animal cruelty. The animal was left on a Melbourne roadside posed in a chair wearing a leopard print costume and holding a bottle of ouzo. It was found on Plenty Road, Mernda in May and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning released a photo on Tuesday calling for information. Daily Mail>>>>>>

Question: Is the meat of kangaroo halal? What about the meat of wallaby?

Answer:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Yes, the meat of kangaroos and wallabies are halal. Kangaroos and wallabies are comparable to rabbits in that they are herbivores. They also share certain other features of rabbits. It is mentioned in the books of hadith that once when the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) was gifted a roasted rabbit, he instructed his companions to eat it. Source

2 More Plague Cases Reported In New Mexico's Santa Fe County

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Department of Health on Monday confirmed two more human cases of plague. The recent cases involve a 52-year-old woman and a 62-year-old woman. The first case this year was reported in early June in a 63-year-old man. All three patients, who live in Santa Fe County, were hospitalized but there have been no deaths.State public health veterinarian Paul Ettestad said plague can be present in fleas that infest wild rodents in Santa Fe County, including within the city limits of Santa Fe and in other locations around New Mexico. "Pets that are allowed to roam and hunt can bring infected fleas from dead rodents back into the home, putting you and your children at risk," he said. Health workers are conducted environmental investigations around the homes of the three patients to look for ongoing risk and to ensure the safety of the immediate family members and neighbors. Plague generally is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected fleas but can be transmitted by direct contact with infected animals including rodents and pets. Symptoms include sudden onset of fever, chills, headache and weakness. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plague is infamous for killing millions of people in Europe centuries ago. Source

At the first blow of His thundering sword, the mountains and all Nature will tremble in terror, for the disorders and crimes of men have pierced the vault of the heavens. Paris will burn and Marseilles will be engulfed. Several cities will be shaken down and swallowed up by earthquakes. People will believe that all is lost. Nothing will be seen but murder, nothing will be heard but the clash of arms and blasphemy. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

YELLOWSTONE SUPERVOLCANO HIT BY A SWARM OF MORE THAN 400 EARTHQUAKES IN ONE WEEK

Updated | Yellowstone supervolcano has been hit by a series of earthquakes, with more 400 recorded since June 12. The latest was recorded on Monday, June 19, with a magnitude 3 earthquake striking 8.6 miles north northeast of West Yellowstone, Montana. The swarm began last week, and on June 15 saw a magnitude 4.5 earthquake take place in Yellowstone National Park. “The epicenter of the shock was located in Yellowstone National Park, eight miles north-northeast of the town of West Yellowstone, Montana,” scientists from the University of Utah, which monitors Yellowstone Volcano, said in a statement. “The earthquake was [reportedly] felt in the towns of West Yellowstone and Gardiner, Montana, in Yellowstone National Park, and elsewhere in the surrounding region.” Source

Terrifying video captures locals fleeing a tsunami in Greenland as waves carrying huge blocks of ice crash into houses leaving four people missing

Frightening video footage has emerged of locals fleeing a tsunami in Greenland as waves carrying huge blocks of ice crashed into houses leaving four people missing.   A Danish media report said the waves late on Saturday might have been caused by an earthquake creating a landslide into the sea, which in turn would have generated a swell. Residents and their pets can be seen running away from the shore as the water swallows their homes and possessions.  Daily Mail>>>>>>

Four missing after tsunami hits Greenland

STOCKHOLM: Four people were listed as missing Sunday after an earthquake sparked a tsunami off Greenland and forced some residents to be evacuated. "Four people are missing," local broadcaster KNR quoted local police chief Bjorn Tegner Bay as telling a news conference in the autonomous Danish territory. There were no confirmed fatalities, but Bay said 11 houses had been swept away after a magnitude 4 overnight quake off Uummannaq, a small island well above the Arctic Circle. "The huge waves risk breaking over Upernavik and its environs. The residents of Nuugaatsiaq are going to be evacuated," police said on Facebook, referring to nearby hamlets. Some residents posted images on social media showing huge waves breaking over buildings in the town. "A good explanation is that the quake created a fault at the origin of a tsunami," meteorologist Trine Dahl Jensen told Danish news agency Ritzau, warning of potential aftershocks. "It's not normal, such a large quake in Greenland," she said.  Source

The small earthquake that struck Yellowstone National Park on Thursday night was part of a swarm that has been hitting the area since Monday, scientists say. The quake was centered near West Yellowstone, but was also felt by people in Gardiner and Bozeman. “As of 10 a.m. this morning we had located a total of 235 earthquakes in the area,” said Jamie Farrell, University of Utah research professor of seismology. Yellowstone gets about 1,500 to 2,000 earthquakes every year. About half of those come in earthquake swarms — lots of earthquakes in a small area in a short amount of time. So this activity is fairly normal, Farrell said. Source

Evil Portent For England? 20,000 Bee Swarm

Bees wreak havoc in Hull as 20,000 swarm car

This is the astonishing moment a woman in Hull came home to find 20,000 bees all over her car. The blue Nissan Juke had been parked on her driveway while she was out, when a neighbour phoned and reported that a swarm of bees had descended upon the car. On her return home, Shirley Taylor found an astonishing sight - her car appeared to be totally covered in them. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Taylor said: "There were thousands all over the place and I have been stung and my daughter and granddaughter also got stung. "It is like Nightmare on Watt Street." The incident initially took place on Sunday June 11, but Chris Coulson, chairman of the Beverley Beekeepers' Association, has so far been unsuccessful in luring the swarm out of their new Nissan-shaped hive. Coulson said: "These cars have all kind of recesses and the bees seem to have gone into every one they could find. "We are trying to make them fly. In the box on top of the car we have young bees, some eggs and things like that and the bees in the car will hopefully try to cover those to make sure they don't die." Source

Al Gore Says God Told Him to Fight Global Warming

“Regarding the climate movement,” Gore said warming to his point, “there are people who say, ‘God is in complete control of everything that happens, and if the Earth is getting warmer, then maybe God intends that.'” Gore then rejected that conceit. “Well, no,” the million-dollar mansion-owing former veep insisted. “God intends for us to take responsibility for how we treat God’s creation, and if we choose to use the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet as an open sewer for 110-million tons of global-warming pollution every day, the consequences are attributable to us.” He concluded saying, “And if you are a believer, as I am, I think God intends for us to open our eyes and take responsibility for the moral consequences of our actions.”  Source

WASHINGTON DC DOOM: 80 Dead Ducks Found In Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool!

Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to be drained, cleaned after 80 ducks die in water

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — Eighty ducks have allegedly died in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool within a matter of two days, the National Park Service reports. From May 20 to May 21, approximately 80 ducks were found deceased in the Reflecting Pool, a press release reads.NPS says a necropsy performed on the ducks revealed their death was caused by "high levels of parasites that developed and grew in snails that live in the pool." Chemicals alone are not sufficient enough to fully reduce the parasite and snail population, so the pool must be drained and cleaned, NPS says. NPS says humans who come into contact with the parasite could develop a "swimmer's itch:" an allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash. They say it is not contagious and rarely requires medical attention. It will take around two days for the pool to be fully drained, NPS says. Crews are set to clean the pool on Tuesday, June 13 and the pool is expected to begin refilling on Friday, June 16. Source

Card. Turkson to UN: Holy See committed to ocean sustainability

2017-06-08 Vatican Radio

(Vatican Radio) The Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Cardinal Peter Turkson, has issued the full text of his prepared statement to the United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of the 14th Sustainable Development Goal, which deals with Conserving and Sustainably Using the Oceans, Seas and Marine Resources. Please find the full text of Cardinal Turkson’s statement, below…

*****************************************

Statement of His Eminence Peter Cardinal Turkson

Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Head of the Delegation of the Holy See to the United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of SDG 14:Conserve and Sustainably Use the Oceans, Seas and Marine Resources for Sustainable Development

New York, 5-9 June 2017

Distinguished Co-Chairs,

Last month the Holy See launched a new initiative called “Laudato Si’ Challenge,” in a roll out that included the President of the United Nations General Assembly and prominent business and political leaders from across the globe. The goal of this project is to highlight the importance of environmental concerns in making business decisions, planning projects, and influencing law and policy. The Holy See is committed to continuing and strengthening these efforts.

Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 14 is in everyone’s interest, because the gravity of the issues confronting our oceans involves the very existence of mankind. Besides providing food and raw materials, the oceans provide various essential environmental benefits such as air purification, a significant role in the global carbon cycle, climate regulation, waste management, the maintenance of food chains and habitats that are critical to life on earth.

Pope Francis, in his Encyclical Letter “Laudato Si’, On Care for Our Common Home,” appealed to everyone to alter the trajectory of environmental degradation by changing patterns of consumption and lifestyles harmful to the environment. Careless or selfish behavior in our use of resources and in our interaction with the environment must be addressed at all levels, from individual behavior to national policies and international multilateral agreements.

To reverse the negative impacts on marine resources and to strengthen the long-term conservation and sustainable use of our oceans, we must integrate ethical considerations in our scientific approaches to environmental issues, because environmental deterioration and human and ethical degradation are closely linked. The environment cannot be regarded as something separate from ourselves or as a mere setting in which we live. We are part of it, included in it and in constant interaction with it.

Consequently, a crisis of the environment necessarily means a moment of truth for all of us. As Pope Francis reminded us, “[W]e are not faced with two separate crises, one environmental and the other social, but rather one complex crisis that is both social and environmental.”[1] This compound reality, therefore, demands an integrated approach that simultaneously takes care of the environment, combats poverty and exclusion, assures the collective enjoyment by all of the common good, and fosters intergenerational solidarity.

An ethical approach means, above all, taking seriously our responsibility to care for these precious natural resources and to protect those persons, especially the poor and vulnerable, who depend on them for their daily subsistence. Without an approach informed by ethical considerations, we are left with a system where “some are concerned only with financial gain, and others with holding on to or increasing their power,” resulting in “conflicts or spurious agreements where the last thing either party is concerned about is caring for the environment and protecting those who are most vulnerable”.[2]

An ethical approach must focus not just on rights but also on obligations. Much of the decline in the health of oceans is a result of emphasizing rights and autonomies to the detriment of personal and national responsibilities. The lack of adequate legal and regulatory frameworks and the failure to implement existing laws, allowing many to take advantage of oversights and gaps, exacerbate this overemphasis on rights at the expense of obligations. Care for our common home, however, is and will always be a moral imperative.

Oceans, and all of us who depend on them, would in particular benefit from this ethical approach. For many years, the health of oceans and seas was not adequately considered, as oceans were thought to be so vast as to not be affected by human activities. We have taken for granted our liberties to use them, enjoying the freedom of navigation, of fishing, of laying cables, and of scientific research, but we have not sufficiently underlined our responsibilities in their proper use. This is evident in the fact that, other than provisions regarding general care of the environment or pollution, there is no global agreement or institutional body that specifically addresses care and protection of the resources of the oceans. Such an agreement is particularly urgent as ocean resources are more and more intensely harvested. Oceans have value beyond that of fishing and navigation: they are also a vast source of renewable energy and biological and mineral wealth, including those used by the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

An ethical approach inspires solidarity with future generations. As Pope Francis reminded us, “[I]ntergenerational solidarity is not optional, but rather a basic question of justice, since the world we have received also belongs to those who will follow us.”[3] Thus, while our care for our oceans immediately benefits us, it is also a gift to future generations, sparing them from paying the extremely high price of environmental deterioration and allowing them to enjoy its beauty, wonder, and manifold endowment.

Distinguished Co-Chairs,

In many religious and cultural traditions, water is a symbol of cleansing, renewal and rebirth. It is also, in this sense, that the Holy See welcomes this fresh beginning of a renewed cooperation and coordination of global efforts to conserve and sustainably use our oceans, seas and marine resources.

Thank you, Distinguished Co-Chairs.

Laudato Si Church: Archbishop José H. Gomez Blames Global Warming For Homelessness NOT The Sin OfAvarice!

Clothe the naked
Feed the hungry
House the homeless

Give your money to the poor to save your soul.

Homelessness has nothing to do with temperature.

The Laudato Si Church will have you believe that homelessness is caused by temperature not the sins of the rich.

Laudato Si Church is a church created by greed.

Here is the Bishop:

Renewing the face of the earth

At the dawn of creation, the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the earth’s deep waters.

I was thinking about this image from the Book of Genesis on June 4, as I was praying and preparing to celebrate Pentecost.

Two days earlier, our government had announced that it was pulling out of the so-called Paris Agreement on climate change — an action that provoked deep concern everywhere about the future of the earth we live on.

Concern about global warming and climate change is real. The U.S. bishops have long supported the need for prudent action and dialogue about the impacts of climate change, especially as they affect the poorest and most vulnerable people.

But there remain sharp debates — scientific, technological, economic and political — about how severe the crisis is and how best to address the challenges created by carbon dioxide emissions.

For example, Pope Francis, in his encyclical “Laudato Si’” strongly criticizes the “cap and trade” policies used by states like California and also the federal government. The pope says buying and selling “carbon credits” is “a ploy” the wealthy use to pursue their economic self-interests and their habits of “excessive consumption.”

Many authorities believe the world is already well on its way toward the goal of a global economy that will be far less dependent on carbon-generating energy sources.

They point to growing numbers of “green” jobs, declining costs for renewable energy sources and continued innovations in battery and other energy storage technologies.

These are times for prayer and thoughtful action.

“Lord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth,” we pray in our Pentecost liturgy.

Last week, as the news was coming out about the Paris Agreement, we also received a report here in Los Angeles about the dramatic increase in the numbers of our brothers and sisters who are homeless.

Each night in the county of Los Angeles — nearly 58,000 people have no place to call home.

As with the debate about climate change, authorities have different opinions about the causes of homelessness and how best to respond.

Personally, I am worried about the quality of life here in Los Angeles. Every day it seems the distance grows wider between those who have what they need for a dignified life and those who do not.

In many of our neighborhoods we now see makeshift “tent cities” being established on sidewalks and boulevards and other public spaces.

It is sad to see people living in these tents and all around them to see the signs — clothing, furniture, bikes and toys — that once these people had a home, but now they do not.

I worry that we are getting accustomed to these sights in our city. We cannot allow ourselves to accept a Los Angeles where sidewalks become permanent residences for our neighbors.

The earth is our common home and everyone on earth deserves a place that he or she can call “my home.”

For me, the housing crisis is a reminder that in God’s creation, there is an ecology of the human person and an ecology of the natural environment.

We cannot think about the one without the other. As God spoke and the universe was created, he breathed his Spirit of life into every person.

God made this earth, not for its own sake, but to be a home for the human family. The good things of creation are meant to be shared, developed and used for the good of all of his children.

And God intends us to be cocreators with him, cooperating with him to carry out and complete the work of his creation.

Human life and human nature must be protected and cared for — our rights and dignity, the needs of our bodies, minds and spirit.

The natural environment must also be protected and cared for. We are not put here to consume what we need and throw away what we do not, with no regard for the health of our communities or the needs of future generations.

The lack of affordable housing is directly related to “the human ecology.” This is true in the poorest nations of the world, but sadly it is also true here in the wealthiest.

Again, we need prayer and thoughtful action.

In “Laudato Si’,” Pope Francis remembers these powerful words from St. John Paul II: “The Holy Spirit can be said to possess an infinite creativity, proper to the divine mind, which knows how to loosen the knots of human affairs, including the most complex and inscrutable.”

In these challenging times, when we face so many complicated issues, let us turn to his Spirit. May he inspire us to do what is right and guide us to find creative pathways to renew the face of the earth.

Pray for me this week and I will keep praying for you.

And may our Blessed Mother Mary, queen of all creation, help us to build a culture of care and solidarity. Source
